My Thoughts:

I like to explore translated fiction when I can, but this author was one I hadn't come across before. If you've read my blog before, you'll probably know that I love thrillers and I also love stories set across different time frames. I was intrigued by the premise of this, and I found that the plot unfolded in such a unique way that I was impressed and hooked.

Our main character is Thomas, but we also spend time with other characters as well. Most of them are hiding something but we don't know what until we get further into the plot - it is a thriller after all - but I enjoyed how Guillaume Musso was able to keep me captivated with such flawed characters.

Frank Wynne has translated well so that the prose still flows and the suspense grows deeper with every chapter. With Thomas narrating most of the present day plot and then the snatches of the past peeking through to hint at what he was trying to figure out I was kept guessing and the tension was holding me on the edge of my seat as I read on. A story about youth and power but mostly about secrets, lies and betrayal. This is a great thriller with a brilliant twist at the end and perfect to keep you enthralled on lazy summer days.
